Footage Researcher - Motorsport [Ref PA042] - Permenent

Our client an iconic and very prestigious sports company and global brand are currently recruiting for Footage Researcher (Motorsport).


This is a very exciting time to join the company as they go through a significant period of change and expansion. 

To assist members of the Creative Media department in the research and compilation of motorsports footage.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Review and log recent and historical motorsport event TV footage and create compilations to assist with edits, and for supply to external clients and broadcasters

  2. Log radio recordings

  3. To occasionally transcribe dialogue for scripting purposes

  4. Create copies of footage on XDCAM, HDCAM, Digibeta, DVD, Blu Ray and file-based formats (hard copies and web/FTP uploads), ensuring picture and audio is correctly configured

  5. To assist Producers in the research of current and historical motorsport stories, information and data

  6. Working to a brief given by the Executive Producer, Principle Producer and/or Production Manager, occasionally create video edits using various media sources

  7. Provide research and compilation support to the race team during events, working remotely 

  8. To operate within company requirements for health and safety, legal, environmental and general duty of care compliance

  9. To undertake other duties within your capabilities as your manager may assign to you from time to time


Essential Qualifications

  • At least an HND in English, Media Studies or equivalent

  • Media qualification with emphasis on TV Post Production



  • At least one year’s experience as a runner, researcher or production assistant in a broadcast environment

  • Experience working in a research/footage supply environment

  • Some experience of linear and non-linear editing


Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Motorsport

  • Basic understanding of current TV production techniques and equipment

  • Understanding of contemporary video file formats and codecs

  • Working knowledge of VTR tape formats and television transmission standards

  • Working knowledge of digital media file formats

  • Preferably good knowledge of Adobe Premier

Personal Qualities

  • Flexible – the role will require weekend, evening and night work, depending on the time zone of each race event

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • To be able to work un-supervised but to the brief provided

  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • To be able to work unsupervised and to the brief provided



  • EU driving licence - please note own transport is essential as the office location is not serviced well by public transport

  • Ability to travel
